NAP goes in the lucky last
Having little more than a passing interest in the early exchanges, we go all in on the lucky last, with our ace of the day lining up in the 5.35pm Middle Distance Series Handicap. A dozen runners are expected to post, and Amadeus Rox will carry our stake money.
Coral traders have the three-year-old gelding picked out, and we find ourselves in full agreement over that one. He is yet to get his head in front from four career starts, a third at Lingfield last time out rating as the closest he’s come so far. That was over today’s trip however, and the step up in distance seemed to shake him to life.
Trip should get best out of Amadeus
Alan King’s rep went off at a chunky SP that day, but wasn’t beaten by much, finishing less than two lengths behind eventual winner La Vie En Rose. He did seem to go the long way about things, but would’ve learned from his first outing of the year, and we’re expecting to see him come on for it and go even closer here.
This goes as a largely uninspiring field, and there’s not an awful lot to get excited about here, but we do have high hopes that the distance will eek out further improvement from Amadeus Rox, and he’s easy to trust in this kind of company with Coral’s horse racing team giving a useful 11/4. Worth a shot at the price.
