Bet of the day: Tuesday’s Racing

NAP and next best at Newcastle

Followers of British horse racing have plenty to get through on Tuesday afternoon, with meetings scheduled at Ayr, Fontwell and Newcastle. You can place your bets on all the races right here at Coral, with a winner just a click away.

Taopix loves Newcastle

Our best bet of the afternoon goes on the all-weather meet at Newcastle, where a competitive day gets going at 2.10pm with an apprentice handicap. We’re in nice and early with our NAP, taking Taopix to win the 2.40pm test, disputed over one-mile two furlongs.

Karen McLintock sends out the selection, who has already scored over track and trip, and he seems to have a real fondness for Newcastle, with each of his three career wins coming around here. The five-year-old got up last time out, beating Magistral by 1 ¼ lengths on the opening day of the month. He had his fair share of problems on that occasion, but stuck to his task when getting the room and was jotted down as an eyecatcher at the finish.

Jockey Luke Morris was in the saddle then, and does the steering again here, which will inspire confidence among backers. Taopix is as consistent as you like and is fancied to make a quick-fire return to the winner’s enclosure.

Pursuit of happiness

In the final race we will be hoping to land a double, if everything goes according to plan, with a punt on Indian Pursuit. John Quinn’s rep was edged out by Strictly Carter over five-furlongs, with a short-head the winning distance, only last week. He goes back in again and a similar effort will see him improve a place to take the prize money against modest opposition.
