Experience will pay against an uninspiring field
There’s plenty to pick through from the Welsh track, with eight legs getting underway at 2.00pm. Coal Stock should start us off on the winning foot, but we have little more than an interest until our NAP of the day lines up in the 4.00pm. A handicap, run over one mile two furlongs, there’s a nine-runner field in attendance, and Sakhalin Star goes as the best of them.
The Richard Guest trained six-year-old boasts bags of experience, and arrives at course with form onside, placing at Ayr in a bunch finish earlier this month. That race was run over today’s trip, and the selection wasn’t beaten by much, Take A Turn getting home a neck ahead of Never Say, who beat Sakhalin Star by the same distance.
Sakhalin to bag overdue win
The selection looks to have been given every chance by the handicapper to go and improve, and we think he’ll do just that. Granted, the NAP hasn’t been seen winning for a long time now, and that may put a few off trusting him with their stake money, but this is a low-grade race and there’s nothing in the field that will cause connections to lose any sleep.
Sakhalin Star has been holding his own recently, and if we see a repeat of the effort put in last time, he’ll stand every chance of improving to bank a long-awaited return to the winner’s enclosure. We’re hoping Tuesday’s pick is in the mood, and if he doesn’t do the business here, it’ll be a long time before we can trust him again, as this is a very winnable race.
