Bet of the day: Tuesday’s racing
Published:Shining the spotlight on Brighton
There’s more than enough to keep followers of the UK and Irish horse racing scene busy on Tuesday, with meetings penned in at Hamilton, Brighton, Chepstow, Stratford and Gowran. Click here to place your bets at Coral.
As usual, our racing team look to nudge you in the direction of a decent winner with our NAP of the day, which you can follow below. Those betting on the go can skip to the bottom of this page where they will find a selection in each of the seven legs at Brighton. Choose your favourites, or throw a few together in a multiple. Big wins for small stakes – that’ll do nicely.
De Sousa’s form makes the difference
The action in Sussex gets underway at 2.15, and Harlequin Rose is the winner of the opener for us. We waste no time sitting on our hands for a NAP either, with bet of the day going in the second. A handicap run over seven furlongs, seven runners are expected and the best of them will be Swilly Sunset – if our thinking proves shrewd.
Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride, and that’s worth noting, as the talented jockey boasts a decent strike rate around here. Followers of the stats will also tell you that he has a fine reputation for getting favourites home in front, and we’re expecting him to build on that, with the market sure to favour our pick.
Swilly Sunset to go in again
Since joining forces with trainer Anthony Carson, Swilly Sunset has done nothing but improve, and was an impressive winner last time out at Yarmouth in June. Running over 1m 3f, he went off as favourite, and lived up to the tag, nudging out runner up Break The Silence by a ½ length. He was given a peach of a ride by De Sousa that day, and the pair can be trusted to pick up where they left off.
Here we are siding with a form horse, who arrives on the back of a morale-boosting win, and one with a bit better still to come, we expect. In a tight race, De Sousa’s experience will make all the difference at the business end of the contest, and we’re happy to give the four-year-old a chance to bag us a profit.
