Bet of the day: Thursday’s racing
Published:Aiming for three winning NAPs in-a-row
Followers of our horse racing NAPs have had plenty to cheer home this week, with a nice price winner on Tuesday followed by more of the same on Wednesday. Desert Cross scored at Bath off an SP 11/4, and with profits in the bank, we aim to continue our winning run.
There’s lots for fans of the domestic horse racing scene to get stuck into on Thursday, and we offer our popular race-by-race selections at Sandown. Click here to place your bets, including Lucky 15s and accumulators, or read on as we explain the thinking behind our NAP.
Improving filly won last time out
Seven legs from Sandown get started at 2.00pm with a lively fillies’ stakes, and we have perfect conditions for an enjoyable afternoon’s racing, with the early going described as good to soft. Aiming for a hat-trick of winning NAPs, we thought about giving the gold star to Eynhallow in the 3.40pm, but he opened at odds-on, so we’ll look for one at a bit more of a price.
That’ll be Finale, running in the penultimate race on the card, the 4.45pm one-mile handicap. A tight five-runner field, we look set for a competitive contest, but Hughie Morrison’s rep can be trusted. The progressive three-year-old filly arrives on the back of a win at Nottingham last month, getting her head in front over a similar trip.
Finale given a chance to go again
She went off at decent odds that day, but ended a convincing winner, beating Mama Africa by two lengths, spotted keeping on at the finish to stamp her authority on the race. That followed a couple of placed efforts at Southwell, and the switch to racing in handicaps had an immediate effect. She hasn’t been too harshly treated in the weights either, and is more than capable of doubling up.
There was a lot to like about Finale last time, and there’s no doubt she has more to give. The handicapper looks to have handed her a chance to improve again and give a big effort, and if we get the kind of performance we’re expecting, the NAP will have more than enough to see us land another winner.
