Bet of the day: Sunday goals

We focus on the action at Balaidos

The ace of Sunday’s schedule goes at Balaidos where locals Celta Vigo welcome La Liga leaders Real Madrid to town for a 7.45pm start in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Armchair fans have something to enjoy, and Coral ensure punters are covered too, with the latest from our bet of the day feature.

Real go into their 20th game of the season leading the race for the La Liga title, four points ahead of nearest challengers Barcelona, with a game in hand. Sevilla are also in the mix, and inflicted Blancos’ one and only defeat of the season, on January 15th, but have failed to keep up the pressure.

With the sharks beginning to circle, Real Madrid, very much like Chelsea in the English Premier League, look to be the only side capable of going and winning the silver. Zinedine Zidane’s crew beat Real Sociedad 3-0 last weekend, thanks to goals from Kovacic, Ronaldo and Morata, and were the only side in the top-five to collect all three points. Barca and Atletico Madrid drew, while Sevilla and Real Sociedad lost.

They now aim to build on that momentum with an away win over Celta Vigo, a side they have already beaten on league duty this term, turning in a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu back in August. Morata and Kroos were on the scoresheet that day, and the former, who has been liked with a move to Chelsea, is 6/5 with Coral to score in the anytime market. Ronaldo, predictably, heads the betting at 8/15, while the Portuguese star is 9/4 to break the deadlock.

Goals look guaranteed

It’s not all doom and gloom for The Celts however, as they got the better of Sunday’s opponents in the Copa del Rey recently, beating them 2-1 on the road before securing a 2-2 finish at this venue. Few predicted they would come through better, and manager Eduardo Berizzo will be hoping to pull off another upset here as he targets a top-six finish.

Other positives can be taken by local fans from the recent head-to-head stats too, with both teams scoring in each of the last six matches involving Celta Vigo and Real Madrid. The aggregate score for this season alone already reads Celta Vigo 5 – 5 Real Madrid. I am expecting more of the same here, with goals very much a feature of the play.

Backing both teams to find the net at least once looks to be the shrewd bet on Sunday, and if you want to follow me in, Coral traders will reward you with 4/6, while those looking to be a shade braver can have both score and Real Madrid win at 17/10.
