Roll On Rory ready to rock at Doncaster

The St Leger Festival from Doncaster gets underway on Wednesday, so Coral tipsters have taken their bet of the day for September 7th from the seven-race card at the Yorkshire venue.

We recommend Roll On Rory to win the class 2 7f handicap contest (16:10), because of the Jason Ward gelding’s fine form, success when stepping up to this distance last time out and the fact he may have got in lightly when it comes to the weights.

Read on and find more details about this appealing punt we’ve picked out from Wednesday’s horse racing betting…

In-form and well-weighted

Roll On Rory has won three of his four starts in the last three months, only going down by 1 1/2 lengths to Gravity Flow when last turning out at this course over 6f in July.

Both the selection and that William Haggas horse have come out and won since, so that gives the form a rock-solid look.

Roll On Rory has already made the step up to 7f, scoring by two lengths over a field of nine at Newmarket in August – despite carrying 9st 7lb on board.

Getting into this race off 8lb lighter than that, and 6lb less than his previous Doncaster outing, Roll On Rory looks ready to improve on his runner-up performance.

Being joint-bottom weight is certainly very exploitable, especially as overnight race favourite War Glory has 4lb more than the selection in the saddlebags.

Three-year-old Roll On Rory is also versatile regarding ground, with wins on varied going. A good to soft forecast underfoot should pose no problems for him, then.
