After a disappointing campaign last year, Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen would have wanted to get off to a good start this term.

It’s not quite gone to plan, as both sides have lost three of their first six games in the Bundesliga. Schalke are currently seventh, with Leverkusen three places below in 10th.

Now they have a chance to gain some ground when they face each other at the Veltins Arena on Friday evening.

The away side has tended to have the edge when these two sides have met in recent years. Four of the last five games have ended with an away win.
