Bet of the day: Monday’s racing

NAP expected to shine at Chepstow

Another new week and, believe it or not, it’s the final Monday of June. We’re fair flying through the summer. Monday’s UK and Irish racing is made up of meetings at Southwell, Windsor, Wolverhampton, Chepstow and Kilbeggan.

Our team have run their expert eye over the runners and riders, reporting back with our NAP of the day, while punters chasing a big price multiple can follow Coral’s race-by-race selections, aimed at giving you an interest in each of the seven legs. Click here to check the betting.

Collodi trusted with our stake money

We get up and running at 2.00pm, and Halinka goes as a strong bet to get us off on the winning foot, but we’re having little more than a passing interest until our ace of the day lines up in race four. A one mile two furlongs handicap due to post at 3.30pm, of the tight five-runner field, in form Collodi is the one to carry our stake money.

A previous winner over track and trip, this vastly experienced eight-year-old gelding, kept sharp by Neil Mulholland these days, arrives on the back of an impressive win around Catterick earlier this month, delighting those who like to keep him close by scoring over 1m 4f. Going off as hot-favourite, he more than lived up to expectations, trailing the field home by eight lengths.

NAP enjoying life under Mulholland

Collodi looked in great shape that day, making all and pulling clear when asked. Those who saw the race would’ve immediately marked him down in the notebook as one to keep on the right side of in a similar contest. That was his first outing of the year, but the performance suggests there’s still plenty in the tank, and it stretched his recent record to four wins from his last seven goes.

The NAP is enjoying life under Mulholland, and has won each of his three races on the flat since joining the yard. He has proven in the past that course and distance are very much to his liking, and there’s little reason to oppose here.
