Maguire 13/8 to topple Selby in Germany

The world’s greatest potters are currently contesting at the German Masters, and Coral’s bet of the day involves world number one Mark Selby’s baize battle with Stephen Maguire, with the latter Scot 13/8 to secure a last 16 victory.

Glasgow’s On-Fire Maguire holds a strong record against the reigning world number one, having prevailed in 10 total match-ups to Selby’s 11 throughout their respective careers.

Although, it’s the in-form Celtic cueist that has been the more dominant force of late, triumphing in three successive competitive clashes with the Jester from Leicester, including a comfortable Champions League win last month.

Selby to succumb to menace Maguire again

The 2014 world champion will be sick of the sight of his constant Scottish conqueror, having lost four of their previous five encounters since the year of his maiden Crucible crowning, and recent form suggests he could suffer further misery.

Maguire wasted no time in dispatching crafty Irishman Ken Doherty in the previous round of this coveted German Masters tournament, overcoming the Dubliner 5-1 to reach this stage of the competition.

The Glaswegian is truly fired up for the ranking event on German soil, as he focuses on gaining points after narrowly dropping out of the world’s top 16.

Ranking points pursued by Maguire

“This is a ranking event so there is more pressure – it will be a tough match against Mark but I’m up for it,” said Maguire.

The 34-year-old will be gunning for a solid result over Selby in order to maintain his impressive form and make a gallant fight back into the top 16 positions where he belongs, which would make his playing time a lot less stressful in the coming months.

Though, with such a recent rampant record over the Jester, Maguire can call upon his experience to overcome his opponent at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
