Coral’s bet of the day

  • Pace bowler Rabada rampant already against England
  • Took 22 Test wickets despite Proteas losing
  • Nine more snared in ODI Series victory

Rabada to rattle through touring England in opening T20

When the England cricket team’s winter Tour of South Africa began, the danger man in the Proteas’ attack was Dale Steyn. While he, when fit, remains pound-for-pound the best bowler in the world, his injury absence has allowed another to step up and stump plenty of victims.

At just 20 years of age, paceman Kagiso Rabada has been nothing short of brilliant with the ball against Trevor Bayliss’ tourists. He is thus a worthy 11/4 favourite with Coral to be best South African bowler in the first Twenty20 International between the two sides in Cape Town.

The travelling Barmy Army have already witnessed rampant Rabada prove his considerable credentials in Test and One Day formats, so his brilliant bowling should be set to continue in this limited overs contest.

Nobody took more victims with the ball than Rabada during the Test series in December and January, with an incredible 22 wickets that included impressive figures of 13-144 during the game in Centurion. Why not check out our full first T20 preview?

Test and ODI mantle taken up

While that may have been in vain as hosts South Africa lost 2-1, Rabada’s contribution to the Proteas coming from 2-0 down in the five-match One Day International games to win 3-2 proved vital.

Following up his longer format form, Rabada netted a further nine ODI wickets to prove he is adept at damaging opposition orders regardless of what sort of cricket is being played. His One Day economy rate is 4.73 runs an over, with an average of under 20 conceded per match.

In fact, he has been so impressive that County Championship side Kent have signed Rabada to come over to England play some first-class games this summer on a short-term deal. He will largely feature in limited overs competitions the T20 Blast and One Day Cup.

An awesome 11/4 price on Rabada to be best South African bowler against England in Twenty20 action again thus makes perfect sense.
