Coral’s bet of the day

  • Roma have conceded four first-half goals across their last four frays
  • The Giallorossi have been behind at the break against April opponents twice
  • Genoa unbeaten in past eight encounters at the Luigi Ferrari

Genoa 9/2 to lead Roma at half-time (max stake £20)

It’s back to the continent for Coral’s latest bet of the day, as stubborn hosts Genoa rumble with Roma, who are still scrambling with Napoli for second place in Serie A.

So, it is this intriguing Italian encounter in the Northwest of the country that has caught our eye, with enticing odds of 9/2 (max stake £20) for the Griffin to take a lead over the Giallorossi into the break.

Read on to find out why we think Roma will not have it all their own way at fortress Luigi Ferrari…

The Griffin worth a gamble on home soil

Seaport side Genoa may not be as fashionable as in previous seasons, but they are certainly just as stubborn, particularly amid home comforts.

Undefeated in eight on their own turf, scalps secured this season in Liguria include AC Milan, Inter Milan, Empoli, Udinese and Torino, while points were also picked up against Napoli, Lazio and Fiorentina.

The Griffin also enjoy flexing their muscles early on in fixtures, having hit seven of their last 11 strikes in the first 45. So, they will be keen to do so here, with the likes of Leonardo Pavoletti, Alessio Cerci, Goran Pandev and Rossoneri loanee Suso in their ranks, against a Roman outfit that has sometimes struggled on the road this season.

While, April encounters have seen Roma’s rearguard a little rusty during opening exchanges, conceding four first-half goals across their past four matches, with six leaked overall in this short stretch.

In that time, the Eternal City outfit have twice gone into the break behind, but not to traditional big teams. They, instead, appear to toil against mid-table minnows set-up to shut their attack out, trailing to the likes of Bologna and Torino before the end of the first 45.

Away fixtures against smaller sides have certainly posed problems, with the Romans held to recent draws on the road against the Bologna boys and also Atalanta. So, with plenty of motivation as Roma have raided the Griffin for top talents such as Diego Perotti and Iago Falque over recent terms, Genoa look great value at 9/2 (max stake £20) to lead at the halfway point.
