Bet of the day: Friday’s racing
Published:Latest NAP goes at Brighton
We were beaten in a bunch finish at Haydock on Thursday for our first loss of the week, but moving to an action-packed Friday schedule there’s enough confidence and profit onside to take the hit, so we go back in with our NAP.
Friday’s UK and Irish horse racing menu is made up of meetings at Brighton, Carlisle, Wolverhampton, Haydock, Goodwood, Statford and Clonmel. More than enough to give Coral backers an interest – click here to back your winners.
More to come from Otomo
Star of the show goes early in a seven-race meet at Brighton, where we expect Bath And Tennis to get us off to a flyer. We’re wasting no time waiting around on our NAP either, with ace play Otomo going in the second, a five-furlong handicap dash. Seven runners are expected to decide the prize money, but Philip Hide’s charge looks the best of them.
The three-year-old gelding really caught the eye last time out when scoring over course and distance in May. It was the first win of his six-race career, but there was more than enough on offer that day to suggest it won’t be his last visit to the winner’s enclosure.
De Sousa booking inspires confidence
Getting the better of race favourite Raffle King by ¾ of a length on that occasion, the selection was impressive from post to post, making all to serve it up to his rivals. He was as fit and game as you’d like to see over this trip, and crossed the line virtually unchallenged, opened-up to show his true potential. Shaping like a horse that was enjoying the job, it’s likely he’ll come on for the win.
It’s also worth noting that Otomo finished runner-up at this track in his two visits before that win, and it’s obvious he gives his best around the Sussex course. The booking of jockey Silvestre De Sousa will make punters sit up and take note, and the talented pilot is sure to get the best out of our pick. Followers of the stats will remind us he has a fantastic record of getting favourites home in front, and should do so again.
