Bet of the Day: Fresh Sock to defeat Cilic at ATP Finals
Published:Paris Masters champion should be more energetic
The ATP Finals continue in London today with Marin Cilic scheduled to face Jack Sock on centre-court.
Both players are coming off defeats to Alexander Zverev and Roger Federer, respectively. A win here is now imperative for both.
Cilic is the 8/11 favourite to win, with Sock 11/10. They’re slightly surprising odds when you consider a couple of factors and may represent some value.
It’s been a long, hard season for the ATP Tour. And it’s arguable Cilic was feeling it in that defeat to Zverev.
The Croatian actually came from a set down to lead 3-1 in the decider but his younger opponent broke back. The German ace then reeled off five of the final six games to win.
He faces another younger player here in Jack Sock. The 25-year-old American is four years his junior and could be a little fresher.
The Nebraska native has beaten Cilic in their two previous encounters, the last time being the US Open. Sock to win at 11/10 is Coral’s Bet of the Day.
Another three-set decider?
The match odds suggest this could be tight and the Coral News Team agree.
Their first meeting in the Davis Cup went all the way in a five-set decider. Cilic has already gone to a three-set decider in his previous game with Zverev.
Both players are prone to playing long matches as they are big servers and aggressive hitters. A tense encounter in a vital clash awaits you here.
Sock on the Handicap
Considering that Jack Sock beat Cilic 3-0 in their previous hard-court clash at Flushing Meadows, there’s another bet to get involved with.
The -0.5 games handicap odds on the American must appeal at 11/10.
As previously mentioned, fatigue may play a part in what could be a long match here in London.
Cilic is no slouch and isn’t exactly a veteran, but at 25-years-old, Sock should have plenty of energy.
If you’re backing the win, back the handicap for added value.
