Toffees to continue Europa League progress

The Europa League is what Thursdays are all about. And it’s something Everton have been accustomed to in the last 10 years or so. The Toffees host Hajduk Split in the first-leg of their play-off round this Thursday, with the winner heading into the group stages.

But this is a new-look Everton squad, with the Merseysiders splashing the cash on a whole host of names through the summer.

It means they’re taking time to gel up front, but the signs are good at the back, where they’re yet to concede in their three competitive games this season.

With that in mind, Thursday’s best bet is Everton to win and under 2.5 goals at 11/5 with Coral.

One-nil to the Everton

That bet will cover both 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines, with the former a recurring feature at this early stage of the year.

All three of the Blues’ matches this term have ended 1-0, and if you’re going down the scoreline route then Coral are an appealing 5/1 for the same result occurring again. Everton will improve game-by-game though, and a 2-0 result is 9/2.

Boss Ronald Koeman has made Goodison Park a tricky place to visit, and with eight clean sheets in 14 home games, a solid option is Everton to win to nil at 10/11.

Wayne Rooney is a blue

It didn’t take long for Wayne Rooney to open his second account with Everton, bagging the only goal in Saturday’s victory over Stoke City.

It was a classic finish from the England international, who already looks a new man upon his returning to his boyhood club.

Now up and running for the season, Koeman will be banking on Rooney’s leadership to steer them through Europe this year and Coral’s 3/1 on the striker to get the opener looks astute.
