Bet of the Day: Dimitrov to edge past Carreno-Busta

Published:

Nadal’s replacement will challenge the Bulgarian

Grigor Dimitrov may have won two from two in the ATP Finals so far, but tonight’s match against Pablo Carreno-Busta will not be easy.

The Spanish star replaced Rafael Nadal after the world number one withdrew due to a knee injury. And after being brought in with the competition already underway, the 26-year-old was unlucky not to pick up victory against Dominic Thiem.

After losing the first set, Busta recovered to claim the second 6-3 before eventually losing out 4-6 in the third. On that performance, he has the ability to launch a challenge this evening.

However, Dimitrov should still have enough to be able to beat the Spaniard over three sets. But the Estoril Open winner will not make it easy for the Bulgarian. That’s why Friday’s Coral Bet of the Day is Dimitrov to beat Busta 2-1 in sets at 11/4.

Back the contest to go the distance

Only four of the tournament’s 16 matches so far have been completed in straight-sets. And with Dimitrov through, the Bulgarian could take his foot off the gas slightly in his final round robin match.

These are two quality players who will likely push each-other to the limit. Busta showed in his first match that he has the ability to pick up games and ultimately sets. As a result it would be no surprise if this match went the distance. You can back Over 2.5 Sets at 13/8.

Busta to claim the second set

While Busta did lose in his opening game against Thirm, he did perform well enough to claim the second set. By contrast, Dimitrov beat the Austrian 2-1 but dropped the second 5-7.

With that in mind, the Coral News Team are backing the second set trend to continue for both players. It’s 12/5 for Busta to get on the board and win set two.
