Coral’s bet of the day

  • Derby and Brighton both dispatched in their two Championship contests last campaign
  • In those games, the two teams recorded goals in the second 45
  • The Rams host but the Seagulls like striking late against this opposition recently
  • After two draws last term there is little to choose between the teams

Derby and Brighton 5/2 both to score in second half

August has arrived and the Championship came back with a bang on Friday evening. Now in full swing, there are more enthralling offerings of the competitive English second division to be had for football fans.

So for Saturday, Coral’s hand picked bet of the day brings punters a princely 5/2 price on Derby County and Brighton and Hove Albion both to score in the second half of their early afternoon kick-off.

So, kick back with a beer and wait for battle to commence at 15:00 BST, but before that here’s why this wager is worth backing…

Plenty of late goals last season

This opening clash for two ousted Championship play-off semi-finalists from last season should be fiercely contested, as the pair of top six finishers seek another crack at Premier League promotion come May.

Last term the Rams and Seagulls played out two draws in which both were on target, with four of the six goals scored in those encounters late on in the second half.

Pride Park in particular saw plenty of goals, and Derby will expect a late surge again from seaside boys Brighton as four of their past five strikes against them have arrived in the second 45.

There really is little to choose between these couple of promotion hopefuls, meaning this match-up could go all the way as both the Rams and Seagulls iron out their creases in their first Championship outing of the new season.

So, as both sides scored late on in their wrangles last campaign, odds of 5/2 for second half goals from each side seems mighty tempting on this scorching Saturday!
