Bet of the Day: Bayern to take first-leg lead against Besiktas

Bundesliga leaders should have too much

Bayern Munich host Besiktas tonight in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

After a wobble in the early stages of the season, the Bundesliga giants are back to business as usual now under Jupp Heynckes’ steady leadership.

They’ve won 24 of their last 25 games in all competitions and sit 19 points clear at the top of the table. With the league almost certainly sewn up, they can focus their attention to Europe.

Besiktas finished as unbeaten winners of a tough Group G. Hpwever, they’re fourth in their domestic league.

Bayern are big favourites at the Allianz Arena but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the away side get on the scoresheet. Heynckes’ side haven’t kept a clean sheet at home so far in 2018, a run stretching five games.

With that in mind, today’s Bet of the Day is Bayern to win and Both Teams to Score at 7/4.

Lewandowski to make his mark

Robert Lewandowski has hit six goals in his last six outings for Bayern. He’s the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 20 goals. And he’s struck in 13 of his 15 home appearances this term.

It’s no surprise he’s the most likely goalscorer in this one at 2/5 anytime. He’s also tempting at 9/5 to score 2 or more.

First-half flurry?

Both of these teams like to start on the front foot.

In their last four home games, Bayern have scored a total of seven first-half goals.

Besiktas have hit six first-half goals during the first-half of their last four home league matches.

Over 1.5 Goals in the first-half could be a wise choice at 11/10.
