Barney’s brilliance has returned with vengeance for this tournament, with the Dutch great playing some of his best darts once more, in overall impressive performances.
The Hague-born cult hero dazzled last time out, coming back from behind to favourite James Wade and going to to clinch six legs in a row and oust the Englishman.
Having been victorious in four of his five Grand Slam frays so far, revived Van Barneveld is subsequently priced odds-on at 1/2 to take the spoils from his quarters scrap with The Spider, who reached the second round despite never achieving an average of over 96.11.

Van Barneveld then went on to record a higher average than world champions Gary Anderson in their duel, before managing brilliant back-to-back checkouts to sink Larry Butler.
Slaying The Machine 10-7 confirmed that Barney is back to his best, as he romped to a highest finish of 120 against his younger peer. The big Dutch dartsman, winner of this tournament in 2012, has also already notched 12 180s so far, and is odds-on at 2/5 to grab the most again in this tussle.
