Bet of the Day: Back Big Sam’s Everton revival to continue at Newcastle
Published:It’s Benitez versus Allardyce
Newcastle host Everton this evening in a match which sees an old feud reunite between Rafa Benitez and Sam Allardyce.
The pair do not get along, and have endured several public spats in the past.
And with Rafa looking to stop his side sinking into trouble, and Big Sam looking to stamp his authority at Everton, tonight’s game should be a cracker.
The Toffees held on for a somewhat fortunate point at Anfield on Sunday, but they already look much-improved under their new boss.
Newcastle are winless in seven, so this could be the perfect time for Allardyce to get one over Benitez – and his old club. Coral’s Bet of the Day is Everton to win at 11/5.
Leaky Toon Army
The Geordie side have won just four league games this season.
They began the year well, conceding just 10 goals from their first 11 games.
But since then Benitez’s defence has come undone. Newcastle have let in 15 goals in their last five.
Scoring hasn’t been Everton’s problem. The Toffees may have the third-worst defence, but they’ve netted in each of their last six league games.
Having totalled 13 goals in that spell, backing the away side to score first looks good at 5/4 with Coral.
Super Wayne Rooney
Everton skipper Wayne Rooney loves a goal versus Newcastle.
The striker has bagged 14 times against the Magpies in the past, and held his nerve to net the equaliser versus Liverpool at the weekend.
Rooney should thrive under Allardyce’s organisation, and is a tidy 11/2 to score first. The 32-year-old also looks good at 21/10 anytime.
