Coral’s bet of the day
- Atletico Madrid have kept a clean sheet in all of their last six matches in all competitions.
- Bayern Munich have conceded four goals in their last six matches
- Atleti have registered 23 league clean sheets this campaign
Atleti 15/2 to hold Pep’s players 0-0 in classic Simeone style
Bayern Munich take on Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals, as the Bavarian giants look to overturn their loss in the first encounter.
Atletico ran out 1-0 winners against Pep Guardiola’s guys at the Vincente Calderon and will hope to display more of the gritty mentality that Simeone has instilled. The Spanish side have managed to keep a clean sheet in all of their last six matches in all competitions and are a fantastic 15/2 to shut out Bayern with a 0-0 draw that would see Atleti progress.
Defensive determination to prove too much for German Giants
Simeone’s side have the best defensive record in La Liga, have only conceded nine away from home and so far registered a huge 23 league clean sheets. Atleti simply just do not concede often and, when it comes down to the big occasions, can pull off sensationally staunch rearguard performances.
Combine this with the fact that Bayern have conceded four goals in their last six games and it looks tricky for the Bavarians, as Europe’s finest defence descends upon Munich.
Atleti will be boosted by the return of their best defender Diego Godin. The Uruguayan was key to the club’s La Liga triumph in 2014 and should make the Madrid side’s backline even more formidable.
While the Munich men have suffered an attacking blow, as exciting wingman Arjen Robben will miss this clash. The Dutchman has registered two goals and an assist in his three Champions League outings this term and will be sorely missed, also making Atleti’s defensive job easier.
