Triumph a tough ask for Rams at Turf Moor
Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County travel to battle Burnley with Sean Dyche’s side breathing down their necks, as the Clarets sit just one point and place behind them in fifth.
On the road the Rams have stuttered of late, and in fact have not won any of their last four league games, making them 19/10 with Coral to take three points from this tussle.
A draw at 21/10 could prove more prudent for punters who favour the Derbyshire side then, with odds of 7/1 for a repeat of the stalemate which occurred earlier this season in the reverse.
As both teams also face more glamorous upcoming FA Cup frays, with Burnley to encounter Arsenal and Derby to duel with Manchester United, both bosses will also have their eyes on those fixtures later in the week.
Clarets Rams record breeds confidence
Dyche, meanwhile, is much more enticing at 31/20 to lead his team to a Monday evening victory, as the Clarets have not been defeated by Derby in their last 11 meetings, and are currently on a rampant run of three wins in a row across all competitions.
As for Clarets scorer shouts, forwards Andre Gray (9/2 to net first), George Boyd (7/1 to strike last) and Sam Vokes (7/4 in the anytime market) are the obvious tips, but an unexpected goal hero has emerged of late in former Newcastle United and Manchester City man Joey Barton.
The controversial midfielder has bagged two in his last two, as well as proving a driving force for Dyche’s men, and told press of his cracking free-kick versus Brentford: “When the wall set up I just put it where I put it. It came at an important time and gave us that little bit of authority.
“It’s not my primary function for the team but it is nice to get on the scoresheet.
“I’ve been unlucky; I hit the post against [Nottingham] Forest and hit the bar against Bristol City so I was knocking on the door,” added Barton, who is 10/3 to notch again anytime.
Dyche on Derby’s Shackell switch
One familiar face arriving at Turf Moor for the opposition will be former Clarets skipper Jason Shackell, but Dyche told media of the defender’s summer switch to Derby:“He won’t get any stick from me. I’m a realist, I know the market we’re in.”
“He knows what I think about him as a player, he was my captain,” continued the English coach.
Shackell struck against Derby at Pride Park back in 2013, and customers can now back the 32-year-old to find the net versus his former club Burnley anytime at a tempting 12/1. While, winger Tom Ince is an excellent 2/1 in the same market.
