Barca bring out the heavy artillery
Published:Spanish giants have four goals to make up
Coral punters have two matches from the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday evening, with game of the night going ahead at the Camp Nou. Barcelona trail PSG 4-0 on aggregate, and must attack from the first whistle if they are to stand any chance of rescuing the tie.
The match in Spain is supported by goings on at Signal Iduna Park where Borussia Dortmund face Benfica – both shown live on BT Sport from 7.45pm – and we have an abundance of betting markets to keep things interesting. Click here to place your bets now, or read on as we pick through the value.
Barca need their big-guns to fire
There’s an embarrassment of riches in the Barcelona attack this season, including Messi, Suarez and Neymar, but FCB need them to fire, and from the off. They were hammered 4-0 in France, a result that sent shockwaves throughout European football, and put a line through plenty of accumulator bets on Valentine’s Night.
Goals from Di Maria x2, Draxler and Cavani stole the show, but Barcelona have been marked up as hot-favourites by Coral traders to bounce back with a win at 4/9. There’s little surprise in that price, it was to be expected, and the home win has been widely-tipped, but will they do enough to get through? The La Liga kings are 10/1 to qualify, and that’s a big price, put up there for punters to shoot at. If you fancy the locals to pull off a famous win, one of their best in this competition’s history, then be bold and have a go at the big offer.
If you rate the home win, but aren’t convinced that they are capable of getting the four needed just to make things interesting, then why not have them to win to nil at 11/5. They must attack, while PSG just need to tighten-up and ride this one out. It looks a decent investment at a decent price.
There’s goals in this Dortmund side
Borussia Dortmund find themselves in a similar position, chasing down an aggregate score at home. The Germans were beaten 1-0 by Benfica in the first-leg on the road, but the score does little to settle this tie and Die Borussen have their work cut out, but will fancy their chances.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were last seen on Bundesliga action running riot against Bayer Leverkusen, hammering them 6-2 to rack up their third league win on the spin. They’ve scored a dozen goals in their last three starts, and will need more of the same to get the job done on Wednesday. Coral traders have them as 4/11 jollies to get the desired result.
If you fancy Dortmund to win, you’ve got to push it and take them to qualify, with 4/6 the more attractive price. We have been impressed by their scoring exploits however and are going home win -1 on the handicap at even money. With their form in front of goal, and their need to score to get themselves back into it, that looks a shrewd bet.
