Back Bournemouth for drop with Coral as Wilson is out for six months

Premier League new boys Bournemouth’s luck has just got worse, as star striker Callum Wilson has been ruled out for at least six months with a serious knee injury. The club’s odds with Coral to go down are thus highly tempting at 11/4.

The 23-year-old, who started life in the top flight in terrific fashion by scoring five times in six appearances, joins summer signings Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel in injuring his knee, after it was confirmed he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2-1 defeat to Stoke City.

Only Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy stands ahead of Wilson in the leading marksmen list this Premier League season, and timing couldn’t have been worse for the player as he was in with a chance of a first senior England call-up early in October.

However, for the Cherries, it means that they are now without three of their key men for much of the campaign, meaning they will find it very difficult to keep hold of their current position of 16th in the table.

Manager Eddie Howe spoke on the injury: ”It’s very disappointing for Callum, after what has been an exceptional start to the season, but I am sure he will come back fitter and stronger.

“Callum is the type of character who won’t be fazed by such a setback, and I am sure he will turn this experience into a positive in the long run.

“As I have said many times before though, this kind of setback offers others the opportunity to step up to the plate, show everybody what they can do and make a real impact at this level.”

Although Wilson will be missing for a large portion of the season, Howe still does have the likes of Glenn Murray, Yann Kermorgant and Tokelo Rantie to call upon in his absence, but do they have the quality to keep the Cherries up?

Coral’s odds-on price of 1/5 suggests they will, but following this news you may want to take an enticing bet of 16/1 for them to finish bottom while you still can!
