Baby Murray 500-1 to win Wimbledon

Published:

Leading bookmaker Coral has reacted to the news that Andy and Kim Murray are expecting a baby by offering odds of 500-1 on the child following in its father’s footsteps by winning Wimbledon. The child is 250-1 to win a Grand Slam and 33-1 to play any form of sport at national level.

Coral make a boy the marginal favourite at 4-5 in the gender betting but girl can also be backed at evens. The newly-married couple are 50-1 to have twins, while the firm is already offering odds on who the baby will represent at national sport where Scotland is 1-3 and England 9-4.

“We’ve already had several customers requesting a bet on Andy and Kim’s new baby winning Wimbledon so if the child does go on to follow in its father’s footsteps, it is likely to be very costly for us bookmakers,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“The odds suggest the baby will be a boy. Interestingly, it is much shorter to represent Scotland if it goes on to play sport at a national level, while the current joint-favourites in baby name betting are Eileen and Tim,” added Hill.
