Khelman each-way value in Ayr Bronze Cup

Khelman has plenty going for him in Ayr Bronze Cup
Khelman caught the eye last time out and, with Coral paying five places, looks decent each-way value in a typically open and fierce renewal of the Ayr Bronze Cup at the Scottish venue today (16:15).
The Richard Fahey trained gelding is a six-time winner, who looked as good as ever when getting up close home to score on seasonal reappearance over 7f at Chester off a mark of 83.
Khelman also ran well three starts later when a 1/2 length third over over 6f at Epsom off 85 and, after two below par efforts, bounced back to finish a solid fifth of 20 to Handsome Dude over 6f at Doncaster last time out.
After getting slightly outpaced two from home the six-year-old kept on well to be nearest at the finish and beaten three lengths.
Soft ground holds no fears
He had the re-opposing Duke Cosimo, Holiday Magic and Fendale in-behind, and it was an effort which suggested his time was near.
A mark of 85 also looks workable on the pick of his form, and Khelman showed that he is effective with cut in the ground when sluicing to a three lengths success over 6f at Epsom last year off just 3lb lower than he carries this afternoon.
Another plus is that he hails from a yard that does particularly well in sprint handicaps at this meeting and everything looks in place for a big run.
Giant Spark odds make him a big player
Giant Spark comes into the race in terrific form and looks a major contender for trainer Paul Midgley.
The four-year-old has won three of his last four starts and comes into the race on the back of a career-best performance when romping to a three length success on soft ground at Thirsk.
Although now 5lb higher in the weights, Giant Spark is due to race off 9lb higher in future assignments so is officially 4lb well-in.
That gives the son of Orientor outstanding claims from a handicapping perspective and with the trip and ground fine a big run looks assured.
