ATP World Tour finals day 7: All-Swiss showdown in semis

2015 ATP World Tour Finals semi-finals
Rafael Nadal resumes his rivalry with Novak Djokovic, as they do battle for the 46th time, and there’s also an all-Swiss showdown between Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka in the ATP World Tour Finals semis.
Andy Murray apart, who may have understandably had one eye on Great Britain’s Davis Cup final next weekend, the last four are made up of all the top seeds competing at London’s O2 Arena.
Tennis’ world number one Djokovic remains Coral’s odds-on 4/7 favourite to take a fourth successive ATP World Tour finals title, while all-time Grand Slam great Federer is 11/4. Compatriot Wawrinka is 15/2 chance, while Nadal is the outright outsider at 8/1.

Although Nadal edges the overall head-to-head 23-22, Djokovic has dominated on hard surfaces such as the one this end of year event takes place on, winning 15 of 22 meetings.
It’s little wonder, then, that the defending champion and Serbian racket star is an overwhelmingly odds-on 1/6 favourite to make the final. Djokovic has earned victory in three meetings with Nadal this year, and all of those in straight sets, so the 8/15 price on a repeat of that is better.
Spaniard Nadal is yet to triumph at the ATP World Tour Finals, but is unbeaten at this year’s edition, so the possibility of defeating Djokovic cannot be ruled out at 4/1.
‘The King of Clay’ is also a 7/1 shot to win in three sets, although a common scoreline of 6-3 in Djokovic’s favour in either the first or second are respective 7/2 and 4/1 shouts.

Federer has never lost on hard courts to Wawrinka, winning a delightful dozen previous encounters on that surface, and that’s why the former is odds-on 2/5 match favourite.
Late-blooming Wawrinka (2/1 outsider to cause an upset) has just three victories in 20 head-to-heads with Federer, and the former Davis Cup teammates will once again put aside that camaraderie to battle.
This is a repeat of last year’s ATP World Tour Finals semi, which Federer took in three sets. Awesome 11/4 odds say he shall repeat that result 12 months on.
It’s that price which appeals, because Federer in straight sets at 11/10 looks a little short and does Wawrinka, who knocked out Murray, a disservice.
