It’s never dull with the La Liga side

If you like your football to be entertaining, then look no further than Real Betis.

The Sevilla-based outfit are gaining quite the reputation for drama, unpredictability, and ultimately, thrilling football.

Quique Setien’s side have produced pretty much every result you can think of this season – both for and against.

The stats

They’ve scored four goals more than second-placed Atletico Madrid, yet they’ve leaked 10 goals more than bottom side Malaga.

So far Betis’ games have average of 3.7 goals per game. 14 of their 22 matches have seen over 2.5 goals, while three have produced seven goals or more.

It’s been quite a season.

Quiet beginnings

It all started with an innocuous 2-0 defeat away at Barcelona on the opening day of the campaign.

A 1-0 win away at Real Madrid in September hinted at the thrilling ride to come.

Betis followed that up with a 4-0 victory at home to Levante before their marauding style was exposed against Real Sociedad in October.

Despite taking the lead three times during their trip to the Anoeta, Betis allowed the hosts back in it each time, eventually drawing 4-4.

The madness continued when Valencia came to town a fortnight later.

The visitors raced into a 4-0 lead, only for Betis to haul it back to 4-3 thanks to a trio of quick-fire efforts.

But in true Betis fashion, Valencia hit back with two of their own to run out 6-3 winners.

In November they then capitulated in a 5-0 loss away at Eibar, and the chaos has continued since Christmas.

New Year, same Betis

Their first game of 2018 produced a sensational 5-3 win away at Sevilla. Nine days later Ruben Castro netted a late penalty to see off Levante 3-2.

Betis then kept Barca quiet for an hour, only for the Catalan giants to then score five in the final 30 minutes.

And the over 4.5 goals run continued at the end of January as Betis lost 3-2 to Celta.

They bounced back last time out however, to defeat Villarreal by a relatively normal scoreline of 2-1.

And no, there haven’t been any 0-0s for Real Betis this season.
