Joe Tizzard: “I think there’s a massive run in Lostintranslation”

12.55 Ascot – Highest Sun
We ran him in a Beginners Chase at Newbury last time knowing full well that if he went and ran a big race, and had a good education, it wouldn’t affect his handicap mark (under the new BHA rules regarding novice chases).
He wasn’t far behind Champ and it was a lovely run. Robbie said that was the best way to ride him especially as it was the first time we’d stepped him up to 2m6f. We can just drop him in and feel his way into a race. I think he ran better than his current mark that day, so although we have top weight in this race, it looks a lovely opportunity for him. We are expecting a massive run from him.
13.30 Ascot – Drinks Interval
She was in great form twelve months ago and then lost her way a little bit at the back end of last season. So, we are going for a confidence booster really. She’s very well handicapped on her best form but we are just going to ride her quietly and confidently and hopefully that will bring her into the race. She’s fallen and had a couple of pulled ups so we just want to get her confidence back.
I’m a huge Altior fan and always have been. It looked to me last season that he was crying out for this trip. I think he’s the one to beat. I’m not crabbing Cyrname at all but Altior is 19 from 19 over fences and is something a bit special.
15.00 Haydock – Lostintranslation
He had that lovely prep up at Carlisle and it’s tightened him up, there’s no question about that. He seems in beautiful form at home. We are just so excited to take the next step with him.
On the ratings he has a bit to find, but his best form was when we stepped him up to three miles at Aintree in a Grade One, and we’ve been looking forward to going for this race for some time. It’s not all about winning, but I’m sure he won’t let us down.
I think there’s a massive run to be had with him, but it will need to be to win this as Bristol De Mai is a good horse especially at this time of year and at this track.
Lostintranslation will need to put up a Gold Cup performance. Defi De Seuil’s win last Sunday has given our novice form from last season a big boost and I’m sure that was the best novice chase form in England last year. We hold him in very high regard and we expect him to be our main Gold Cup contender this year.

13.20 Exeter – Sizing Cusimano, Darlac
We have been struggling to find the right race for Sizing Cusimano so we are going to run in this so that he can get his eye in over fences, and then we can go handicapping with him. He has a bit to find on the ratings.
Darlac had an unlucky fall last time. Exeter is as good a track as any to go and get a confidence booster. He doesn’t have as much to find on the ratings and has fitness on his side, so I expect him to be competitive.
13.50 Exeter – Norse Legend
He’s a bonny, little horse. He has his limitations but he was staying on quite nicely at Exeter and this is a very similar race. He’ll love the ground and love the rain coming, and Harry Kimber seems to get on really well with him, so he has an each way chance.
14.20 Exeter – Copperhead
I’m quite excited about Copperhead really. He went to Chepstow and needed the run. Robbie just schooled him round and he got a bit tired from the back of three out. He’s in the right grade this time in a 0-125 handicap.
Harry’s won a couple on him, and he’s won around Exeter, so I’m expecting him to fulfil his potential. He’s always looked like he’ll be a chaser and he’s filled out over the summer.
