14.10 Chepstow – Catch The Cuban

He was pretty green on his debut over hurdles at Plumpton a couple of weeks ago and then the penny dropped and he stayed on really well. He’s had wind problems so he may have needed that run to get a confidence boost. We are hoping for another step forward from him. He’s capable of winning races but it may take a couple of races to get his head in front. He’s certainly improved since Plumpton and he wasn’t beaten far that day.

14.45 Chepstow – Highest Sun

This horse has certainly improved. He’s a typical French horse and was a bit light last year, but he’s summered really well. He’s a big strong horse and he’ll go chasing in a minute. We just thought we’d stick him in a hurdle race first time up, and he’s won around Chepstow before as well. We are expecting a decent run from him.

15.20 Chepstow – Royal Vacation and Drinks Interval

Brocade Racing are sponsoring this race and have named it after Native River. We have two in the race. Royal Vacation is a good old boy, and a decent yardstick. He runs well fresh and is good form. Chepstow will suit him well as he just keeps galloping.

Drinks Interval wouldn’t have minded a bit of good ground but she did win round here last year. We are just keen to start them both.

15.55 Chepstow – Reserve Tank

Reserve Tank faces three good opponents. Chepstow is a lovely place to start novices which is why we ran Native River, Finian’s Oscar and Cue Card in this race. We love this track. Reserve Tank has schooled well  but it’s not a walkover by any stretch of the imagination. It’s a great place to start

16.30 Chepstow – Beaufort West

Beaufort West should go well. It’s a 16 runner race and is a competitive race as always. If there’s a bit of natural improvement for the summer on his back then he’s capable of running a big race and having a good season.

He had some useful form last season without getting his head in front. He’s off a nice racing weight and he should be very competitive. That said it is a hot race.

17.40 Chepstow – Buckthorn George and Oscars Moonshine

These are two nice babies that were both in training with us last season, so they had the benefit of that without running.

They are two nice horses having their first run on a racecourse and we are just looking forward to running them and learning a bit about them. They are both going nicely at home so will be good to see how they go.
