Jim Crowley: “Molatham is a smashing horse and my best ride of the day”

Mustashry after winning at Newmarket
I was delighted with Mustashry. To carry a Group 1 penalty and win like that was terrific. He’s such a consistent horse. He’s won up to 1m2f but is effective at 7f too. He’s a real star.
He went to the Breeders Cup last year but it came up soft, so another trip out to America is a possibility but it will be up to the Boss (Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum). He’s better with faster ground and another furlong so hopefully he’ll go.
14.55 Newmarket – Molatham
Molatham is a smashing horse. He was also entered in the Dewhurst but when we knew Pinatubo was running there we decided to take this route instead.
He beat Wichita at Doncaster who is second favourite for the Dewhurst and Wichita has since come out and won really well at Newmarket. So all my horse’s form is working out really well, even when you go back to his Maiden when he was second to Mum’s Tipple.
He’s a nice horse, he’s in good form and I’m very hopeful of a good run. I’m just hoping the ground isn’t too soft for him, because I think he probably wants nice ground. He’s my best ride of the day.
16.10 Newmarket – Rainbow Dreamer
This horse was third in a Triumph Hurdle and came fourth in the Ascot Stakes so has terrific dual-purpose form and we know he stays this trip. Alan King has two in the race and he put me on this one. I think he’s quite keen on this horse’s chance.
16.45 Newmarket – Restless Rose
She won well at Yarmouth and then ran a decent race at Newmarket last time out where he wasn’t beaten that far. She will probably have to step up on that form. She’s rated 82 and there are fillies rated a good bit higher in the race so she is probably just after a bit of black type.
