Jim Crowley: “I’m confident Molatham can make the step up”

Coral ambassador previews his Friday rides at Doncaster’s St Leger Festival

Doncaster 14.10

I’ve not ridden Breathtaking Look before, but she’s won a couple of races this season and this seven-furlongs trip clearly suits her well.

She’ll be among the outsiders here but her trainer Stuart Williams is a shrewd operator so hopefully we’ll have an each way chance here.

Molatham really is a proper horse, winning the big maiden [The Convivial] at the Ebor meeting, and the second from that race has already come out and won, and before that we finished second to Mums Tipple at Ascot, and we’ve all seen what that one did at York.

There have been other winners out of that race as well, so that looks a strong debut run, and I’d be confident he can make the step up to Listed class here, he’s certainly my most exciting ride of the day.

He holds Group race entries for later in the season, and he’ll also make into a lovely three-year-old, but I hope this race will be a stepping stone to bigger things this year, perhaps the Royal Lodge. There are some nice-looking horses in against him here, but I wouldn’t swap my fellow.

I’m on the unraced Raaeb for Saeed Bin Suroor in this maiden, his horses always know their job first time out.

I’m slightly in the dark having not ridden him at home, although I did ride his half-brother Ghaamer in Dubai.

It’s always nice to get a ride in the Godolphin blue, and I’m sure he’ll do himself justice here.

My final ride is on Enjazaat in the six-furlong handicap. He’s a lovely horse but things just haven’t gone his way, and he’s without a win since his Ripon 2-y-o Trophy victory two years ago.

At his best he’s capable of a decent run, he has been third in a Group 3, and he’s been working well at home, but I’d have to be hopeful rather than confident.
