Coral ambassador previews his rides at Doncaster

13.10 Doncaster

I had a few options earlier this week as to where I might have ridden this Saturday, with Newbury and Newmarket alternatives, but as things have panned out, I’m off to Doncaster where I can hopefully bang in a winner or two!

I start the day on a nice-looking spare ride in Strong Steps. Formerly with Hugo Palmer and Roger Fell, he’s now with Jim Goldie, and he’s just a pound higher for his win at Ayr last time. Jim is a shrewd trainer and I look to have a good chance here.

13.40 Doncaster

I’m on Pearl Beach in the fillies’ maiden, and she would need to show plenty more than what we’ve seen so far, so hopefully there will be bigger days for her to come. The one to beat here looks to be Alpen Rose, who finished second to one I rode – Wassaayef – at Newmarket, she deserves to be a warm favourite here.

14.50 Doncaster

Motafaawit is dropping down in class here, having run in Listed company last time, and the time before that he was drawn on the wrong side at Ascot, but he won his two before that, and this looks a good opportunity to get him back in front. Rated 103 now, this tends to be a good time of year for the three-year-olds, so I’d say he has a good chance here.

15.25 Doncaster

I was on Dancing Warrior last time at Goodwood, we were outsiders that day and ran as such. His one win so far came at this time last season, but he will need to step up on what he’s shown this year to play a part here.

16.00 Doncaster

Just four runners line up against my final ride, Tabassor, in this 3-y-o handicap, but it’s an interesting little race. My filly ran well at Newmarket last time, when second to a nice winner for Sir Michael Stoute and the Queen.

She was stepping up in trip that day, and we go a mile and a quarter again here which should suit her, so I hope I’ve got a nice chance of ending the day with a winner.
