WEDNESDAY GOODWOOD RIDES

Sussex Stakes

I don’t think the Prix Jean Prat that Too Darn Hot won was a strong race. The horse I like in the race is Lord Glitters who won the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot. I don’t think the three year olds are a great bunch. I would probably have Circus Maximus over Too Darn Hot.

5.20 Qatar International Stakes – Muraaqib

I won this race on Muraaqib last year and he should have a fantastic chance again. He is trained by a very talented trainer in Francois Rohaut. The French trainers are allowed train both Thoroughbreds and Arabians.  That would be a nice pot to win as it’s £200,000 to the winner.

5.55 Goodwood – La Maquina

She ran very well at Newmarket and met trouble in running. She’s a lot better off at the weights with the horse that beat her that day. She likes Goodwood and she’ll run very well. I think she has a very good chance.

REST OF THE WEEK

Nassau Stakes – Maqsad

William Haggas could have run Maqsad in the Prix Rothschild last Sunday but has saved her for this race. She clearly didn’t stay in the Oaks at Epsom where she was the last horse off the bridle. This drop back in trip will suit. Yes it’s a tough race but she’s a good filly and she is in great form.

King George V Stakes – Battaash

I can’t wait to ride him. He’s my best ride of the week and he’s in great order. It looks a weaker renewal of the race than in previous years and he is probably better than he has been in previous years. He’s more relaxed these days and he should definitely make it three King George V Stakes. It will be fantastic if he can as no horse has ever won three King George V Stakes
