Jim Crowley: “Habub is my best chance of winner on the day”

| 16.05.2019

1.35 Newbury – Majaalis

I haven’t sat on this horse before. He cost a lot of money and is very well bred. William Haggis’s normally come on for a run but I think they think a good bit of him so we’ll see how he goes.

2.10 Newbury – Habub

He’s a proper horse. He was due to run at Ascot last week but the ground was soft. He’s very smart and my day is built around him. He’s my best chance of a winner on the day. He’s a very good horse and hopefully he can win.

2.45 Newbury – Baadirr

I don’t know too much about him. A six furlong Newbury maiden at this time of year is likely to be pretty hot as people are thinking about the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. We’ll see how he runs.

3.20 Newbury – Follow Intello

This is an open looking race. Chris Wall is a trainer I like riding for. Intello’s normally improve for age, and he’s got a run under his belt, a reasonable mark, so hopefully he’ll run very well.

3.55 Newbury – Kaafy

I’ve ridden him both times he’s run. He was well beaten last time out at Newmarket and this is his third run after which he’ll get a handicap mark. We are however hoping he runs a lot better as he hasn’t shown an awful lot in his two starts so far. He ran okay first time but badly on his second.

4.25 Newbury – Almokhtaar

He’s a nicely bred son of War Front and is a bit of a galloper. I rode him last time at Chelmsford and probably didn’t make enough use of him. I’ll make a lot more use of him this time. He’s a bit of a slow burner and will need to take a step forward in this.

4.55 Newbury – Alhaazm

I rode him when he was fourth at Nottingham. He ran a nice enough sort of race that day. I’m pretty sure of this mark he’s capable of winning. I thought he’d win that day but he just needed it, so he should have a good chance in this.
