Odds and preview for the Europa League semi-final

Attention shifts back to the Europa League after two hectic nights of Champions League action, with Chelsea looking to seal their place in the final in Baku.

The Blues have already clinched a spot in the Champions League next season, but boss Maurizio Sarri believes the West Londoners deserve a trophy for their efforts this season.

A resilient Eintracht Frankfurt side stand in their way. Can Chelsea battle past the Germans, or will there be an upset at Stamford Bridge?

You’ll find all the pre-match odds and info here, ahead of kick-off at 8:00pm on BT Sport 3…

Head-to-Head

The two sides met for the first time competitively in the first leg in Germany, with the tie ending 1-1 thanks to Luka Jovic’s delightful header, only to be cancelled out on the stroke of half time by Pedro.

Frankfurt come into the second leg off the back of a thumping at the weekend. They lost 6-1 to Bayer Leverkusen, with Filip Kostic grabbing the only goal for Die Adler.

Chelsea will be encouraged coming into the second leg after securing a top-four spot in the Premier League. They beat Watford 3-0 at Stamford Bridge with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain grabbing the goals.

Likely XIs

Chelsea vs Eintracht Frankfurt - Football tactics and formations

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Luiz, Emerson; Kovacic, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek; Willian, Giroud, Hazard.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Trapp; Abraham, Hinteregger, Hasebe; Costa, Rode, Fernandes, Kostic; Rebic; Haller, Jovic.

Chelsea’s midfield engine N’Golo Kante joins Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the treatment table after the Frenchman picked up an injury in the victory over Watford on Sunday.

Ethan Ampadu could make the bench after being sidelined through injury since March with a back injury. Boss Sarri has no other injury worries coming into the second leg at Stamford Bridge, but suffers a selection headache at left back with both Marcos Alonso and Emerson vying for the starting slot.

Frankfurt will welcome back Ante Rebic into their attack after the Croatian missed the first leg through suspension.

Adi Hutter is likely to name an attacking XI and go after the game, with the German side knowing they need an away goal.

They’ll be without Taleb Tawatha, Marc Stendera and Marco Russ through injury.

Key Battles

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud leads the race for the Europa League Golden Boot with 10 goals

Jovic showed Chelsea what all the hype surrounding him was about in the first leg, with both Luiz and Andreas Christensen struggling to pick up the young Serbian striker in and around the box.

Olivier Giroud will feel Jovic breathing down his neck for the Europa League Golden Boot, and the Frenchman will want to impress at Stamford Bridge to widen his lead at the top of the charts.

Eden Hazard was in scintillating form against Watford and will hope to carry that into this match. He somewhat surprisingly didn’t start in the first leg, with Sarri opting for Willian and Pedro over the Belgian after Hutter stated they’d formulated a plan to stop his threat.

Kante is likely to be a big miss in midfield for the Blues, and it’s expected that Mateo Kovacic will fill his void. If Kovacic doesn’t match Kante’s work rate on the pitch, Frankfurt could find a lot of joy down their left-hand side.

Match Odds

The Blues are heavy favourites on the night at 4/11 to win, and also heavily backed to make it to the Baku showpiece at 1/5.

In a week full of European comebacks and surprises, the German side will be hoping they back follow the trend and spring another. Eintracht Frankfurt are 15/2 on the night, and 10/3 to make it through to the final.

Hazard is the favourite to open the scoring tonight at 3/1, and on his current form, he’s backed to grab a goal anytime at 19/20.

Whoever starts up front for the Blues will need to put in a shift. Both Higuain and Giroud are 7/2 to score first, or you can get 5/4 on them scoring anytime.

Unsurprisingly, Jovic looks the most likely to open the scoring if Frankfurt grab the first of the night. He’s 7/1 for that, or you can get 12/5 anytime.

After missing the first leg, Rebic could prove to be the difference maker tonight. Backing the Croatian to grab a crucial goal? He’s 7/2 anytime.
