Serie A Betting Tips: Could Milan catch Juventus out?
Odds and tips for this weekend’s odds in Italy
Juventus could wrap up the title this weekend, as the focus shifts back to on-pitch matters, after the ugly side of Serie A reared its head in midweek.
If Juve beat AC Milan and Napoli lose at home to Genoa, Max Allegri’s side will finish as champions for the eighth year in a row.
It’s surely just a matter of time before their triumph is confirmed, but they may have to keep the champagne on ice for now. Genoa will have their work cut out at Napoli, while Milan need points in the top-four race.
We’ve previewed the pick of this weekend’s fixtures, starting in Turin…
Juventus v AC Milan (5:00pm Saturday, Premier 1)
With the league all but secured, the Old Lady’s main focus is the Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to be risked here ahead of next week’s European tie against Ajax. Even with that in mind, the champions are 8/11 favourites.
Recent history favours Juve too – they’ve racked up five consecutive wins against Milan since the start of last season, conceding just once during that run. There’s 31/20 about a third win to nil over the Rossoneri this term.
But Milan have more at stake here. Any slip up opens the door for their top-four rivals. The visitors are 17/4 for a surprise win, or 11/10 to leave with at least a point in the Double Chance market.
Udinese v Empoli (2:00pm Sunday, FreeSports)
Our focus shifts to the other end of the table next. Both of these sides are hovering dangerously close to the drop zone. A defeat could push them over the edge.
Udinese are 13/10 favourites here and home advantage may make a real difference. Le Zebrette have only lost one of their last six games at the Dacia Arena, while Empoli haven’t won a single game on the road this term.
The hosts have a relatively decent defensive record. Their problem has been scoring goals, hitting the back of the net just 27 times in 29 games. We go 15/4 for Udinese and Under 2.5 Goals.
Inter Milan v Atalanta (5:00pm Sunday, Premier 1)
Both of these sides will be hoping Juventus do them a favour against Milan. That would give Inter a chance to cement third spot, while Atalanta could move above Gennaro Gattusso’s side into fourth.
Inter have been inconsistent in recent weeks, but our traders have them as 23/20 favourites. The visitors have come away empty-handed on their last four visits to Inter, in fairness. Atalanta are 11/5, with the draw standing at 12/5.
There are usually goals whenever Atalanta are involved, with both sides scoring in seven of their last eight outings. There’s 3/1 about Inter and BTTS.
