Rory McIlroy starts as favourite for Masters glory

We go 6/1 for McIlroy to seal the deal

The Masters begins tomorrow and Rory McIlroy is proving to be one of warmest favourites in recent years at just 6/1 with our traders.

McIlroy has had an encouraging year so far, winning the unofficial ‘fifth major’ after victory at the Players Championship last month.

This has put the 29-year-old in the driving seat ahead of Justin Rose at 10/1 and John Rahm at 14s.

Coral’s John Hill said: “The money continues to roll in on Rory McIlroy who will start the tournament as one of the most popular favourites in recent years at Augusta.

We have taken far more bets on the Northern Irishman than we have on any of the other players at the top of the betting,” Hill continued.

Johnson and Tiger Woods are the front runners for the US, with Woods at 14/1 to score victory.

But Hill admitted there hasn’t been much support for the American contingent.

“The American players have been friendless this year, in particular Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods who usually have an army of supporters.”
