Joe Tizzard: “I really do think Sizing Codelco has a good chance.”

The Tizzard yard looks ahead to the Coral Scottish Grand National
Saturday – Ayr
1.25 – Lillington
Lillington has been absolutely brilliant for us and the Racing Club this season. He started off by winning off a mark of 108 at Newton Abbott and he is now a very solid 130 horse.
His last two wins were at Newbury and that should be good form to go to Ayr with, which is a very similar track with long straights. We thought that the handicapper was getting a hold of him the last two times but he is a horse that always seems to find that extra improvement.
He can do that again here and Tom Scudamore gets on so well with him, knowing him inside and out. He can run a very big race here.
1.55 – Drinks Interval
Drinks Interval went from the front in the RSA at Cheltenham but stopped very quickly at around three out. This will be a very different task but this is definitely her ground and the mark she is at should be just right. I think she might well have been undervalued by the market and definitely has an each-way chance.
3.35 – The Coral Scottish Grand National – Sizing Codelco
Sizing Codelco does always seem to be at his best in the spring and we have been aiming at this race all season. The handicapper hasn’t given him the greatest chance off some of his previous runs but those do at least show that he has plenty of ability, so we are going there to try and run a big race.
He is too big a price at the moment I think, I really do think he has a good chance. He was 8th in this last year and is in better form this time around. We’re hoping he can be involved at the finish twelve months down the line.
Bangor
Jonjo O’Neill Jnr has been making the effort to ride out for us for the last couple of months now and Mister Malarky was his first ride for us at Aintree last Saturday.
He rode very well and could not have done anything better. We really do think that he is the next big thing, he ticks all the boxes. Hopefully Saturday will be a big day for him and we’re looking forward to having him on board plenty of our horses in the future.
1.45 – Quiz Master
Quiz Master has just struggled to get his head in front and win so far, unfortunately.
We are hoping that will change and we know that he has plenty of ability. On his day he can be a very talented horse and hopefully he will put his best foot forward here.
2.15 – Carrick Roads
Carrick Roads was so unlucky not to win at Fontwell last time out and we then had a bit of setback with him having a fall at home.
He has now fully recovered from that and schooled really well over the last few weeks which gives us great confidence going into this. He really should take all the beating in this race.
3.20 – Helford River
He really needed the wind operation he had after his bumper but he hasn’t quite come on as we had hoped since that. He’s a very immature horse and has needed his runs to get him going in the right direction.
When the penny finally drops he will be very well handicapped and we just have to keep hoping that he will find the improvement that he definitely has in the locker.
5.05- Harry Senior
Harry Senior is a lovely horse who has some good point-to-point form. This is a great opportunity for him and he is certainly one to keep an eye on in the future, hopefully beginning with his bumper this weekend.
5.40 – L’Air Du Vent
We’ve had to be really patient with L’Air Du Vent as he was a very weak horse when he first came to us. I feel like he will need a good summer on his back but the good ground before the season is out does provide a perfect opportunity for a run here so hopefully he can impress.
