5.05 Nottingham – Foad
This horse has had a run at Leicester where he ran ok on that occasion, finishing fifth. He was a bit keen but we expect he will come on for that outing. He is by Kodiac and I am sure Ed Dunlop will have him ready for his next assignment. The one to beat in the race may be Champagne Supanova who has also had the one start so far in his career.
5.35 Nottingham – Giacomo Casanova
I don’t often ride for Kevin Ryan but this is a nice spare to pick up. He was fourth last time but he won his two previous starts to that. I don’t know a huge deal about him but he is back on the turf after campaigning on fibresand in the winter. I think he will have an each-way chance.
6.05 Nottingham – Juanito Chico
I have ridden against this horse many times before. He was actually second last night at Chelmsford and if he backs up again, he will be in with a strong chance. The Richard Hannon-horse, Mr Tyrrell will be the one to beat but otherwise it doesn’t look to be the strongest of races.
6.35 Nottingham – Alhaazm
This horse is a full-brother to Awtaad who won the Irish 2000 Guineas a few years ago so he has a lovely pedigree. He was a bit slow to come to hand last year but he is a horse who will progress as the season goes on. Michael Stoute’s horses often need a run on their first start back but he is one to keep on the right side on this year. I was steered towards riding Alhaazm over Munaazil in the race purely because of the pedigree. Roger Varian’s horses are in good form at the moment so it wouldn’t be a big surprise if Munaazil was good enough to win on his first run.
7.05 Nottingham – Truckingby
I always enjoy riding for Mark Johnstone. He’s only rated 58 but Mark always gets the best out of his horses. It’s not a strong race, this horse will stay the trip so hopefully he will be thereabouts at the finish.
