Championship Betting Tips: Norwich and Villa to maintain winning streaks?
Published:Betting preview and odds for tonight’s Championship football
We’re at the business end of the Championship season, with the title, automatic promotion places, play-off and relegation spots all yet to be decided.
Following last night’s action, there are another six matches to get stuck into tonight, including league leaders Norwich City v Reading.
We’ve got preview and odds of four of tonight’s Championship games…
Birmingham City v Sheffield United
Birmingham City had been in freefall, and a recent point deduction has pushed them further towards the drop zone. But a win over promotion hopefuls Leeds United last time out may have steadied their ship at the right time.
Garry Monk’s side are still outsiders to cause a shock and take the win at 23/10, but they’ll be buoyed by their victory over Leeds. Sheffield United are looking to keep on the heels of the leaders, ready to pounce on any potential slip-ups. They’re favoured to win at 6/5.
The Blues and Blades played out a 0-0 draw in September. It’s 21/10 about another draw, with the 0-0 coming in at 15/2.
Millwall v Queens Park Rangers
Two wins in their last five have prevented Millwall from dropping into the bottom three, but they’ve failed to pull away from the relegation places with Reading and Rotherham keeping the pace too.
The Lions come into the game as odds-on favourites to take the three points at 19/20. Queens Park Rangers’ form hasn’t picked up despite a managerial change, and they’re without a win in six. They got thumped 4-0 by league leaders Norwich last time out, and look a shadow of the side that beat Millwall 2-0 earlier this season. The Hoops are 14/5 to grab three points.
Millwall frontman Lee Gregory is favourite to open the scoring at 7/2, and it’s 6/4 about him anytime. If QPR grab a goal, Nakhi Wells and Tomer Hemed are the most likely source. They’re both 12/5 anytime.
Norwich City v Reading
The Canaries are flying, currently five points clear of second at the top of the league, and seven clear of third spot. They’ve won eight on the bounce, and Daniel Farke’s side will be looking to make it nine.
Norwich are hot favourites to get the win against a struggling Reading side, with Farke’s men odds on at 1/3. They’re without the in-form Emi Buendia, but they’re got the depth to cover.
Reading’s cause won’t be helped by the ineligibility of Norwich loanee Nelson Oliveria, but they’ve got a relegation battle to attend to so they’ll be hoping to cause a shock. They’re 15/2 to take three points back to the Madjeski.
Championship player of the year Teemu Pukki already has 26 league goals this campaign, and it’s no surprise he’s favourite to break the deadlock at 23/10, and 7/2 to bag another brace.
Rotherham United v Aston Villa
Aston Villa have found form at the most important stage of the season to reinvigorate their play-off push. They’ve won six on the spin, and are second on the form guide only to league leaders Norwich.
The Villans are 7/10 favourites to make it seven wins in a row, but Rotherham are fighting for their Championship status at the other end of the table. The Millers are 18/5 outsiders to grab a morale-boosting win.
Tammy Abraham has been Villa’s shining star up front this campaign grabbing 23 goals so far. He’s 3/1 favourite to net first, or 19/20 says he scores anytime.
Semi Ajayi is the surprise leading goalscorer for the Millers this season with seven in the league. He’s 9/2 to score anytime.
