Racing ambassador discusses day two

4.10 – Glenfarclas Cross Country – Kingswell Theatre

I ride Kingswell Theatre for my brother. I think he’s a lovely outsider. He won the race in November, but his best run was back there in December when actually he picked up an injury.

So he ran a hell of a race all things considered. He is best fresh and he likes it round there.

We are not going to beat Tiger Roll, if Tiger Roll turns up with his A-game, but our horse is a 10lb better horse round the cross country course than anywhere else which puts him in the mix. I wouldn’t rule out a big run from him.

Thoughts on the rest of day two

Altior can’t be beaten. It will be the usual story. He will be bang there at the top of the hill, pushed along at the bottom of the hill, look beaten turning in and then win by ten lengths.

I’m a big Delta Work fan in the RSA Chase. I think he’s one of the bankers of the meeting. With Topofthegame there’s always an excuse for him but how many maiden chasers have won the RSA?

It’s all well and good saying he should have done this or should have done that, but he still hasn’t won over fences. I don’t think this will be enough of a test for Santini and On The Blind Side has been disappointing.

Drinks Interval won’t be good enough but she’ll give it a right good go from the front. She’s tough and consistent. Miser Malarkey has improved out of all recognition.

In the Ballymore Champ comes into it with a massive reputation. However I’ve been disappointed with how the form of the Challow Hurdle has worked out.

At the time I thought it was a really good race but it hasn’t worked out that way. Battleoverdoyen looks very solid. I thought Beakstown’s win around Warwick was a very good run and he may be underestimated.
