Joe Tizzard: “I’m expecting big runs from Theatre Guide and Cyrus Darius.”

We get the latest from the Tizzard stables

Preparations for Cheltenham are going well. A lot of our horses are doing their final bit of work next week and they are all in one piece at the moment.

We are keeping a close eye on a lot of the races and we know what the cut-off point was last year.

Some of our horses are being prepared to run at the meeting and if they don’t make it there, they are fit and ready to go at Kempton.

We also have to speak to jockey agents to sort our bookings over the next couple of weeks. All the big ones are locked in so we don’t feel any pressure there.

Saturday – Newbury

1.30 – Bally Longford

He has jumped very well over his last two runs. This looks a nice little option for him which will hopefully improve his confidence.

His only win for us was around Newbury on decent ground so this is similar.  He is very capable when it all goes to plan.

2.05 – Theatre Guide

He is in lovely form. He schooled on Wednesday morning and he jumped as well as he can. These sorts of races are very competitive but I am expecting a big run from him.

2.40 – Shanahan’s Turn

We want a bit of Good ground for this horse. He has just snuck into the bottom of this race.

We will be heading into the Topham at Aintree where he won well last year. He has a few entries at Cheltenham but if he goes well here, I don’t think he will be heading to the Festival.

3.10 – Cyrus Darius

Hopefully we have found the key with this horse as this is the best we have had him this season. He is in good form and he does have Cheltenham entries. Hopefully he will run a big race here.

3.45 – Unsafe Conduct

This horse has been too keen for his own good. We are just hoping he will relax and settle. This looks very competitive but hopefully in the summer he will win again.

4.15 – Molineaux and Slate House

Slate House wasn’t quite right on his last race so you can put a line through that run. We have by no means written him off. He is a Grade Two winner at Cheltenham. He is better than this and he is just starting to come in his coat. If he is to run in the Arkle, he needs to win here.

Molineaux has Cheltenham entries but also needs to win as he is currently rated 132. He is a consistent horse who always runs his race.

4.50 – Faustinovick

We have been really patient with this horse. He was second to Andy Dufresne which won a nice bumper in Ireland.

He is a nice horse who a big future. We are looking forward to running him. Nicky Henderson has Chantry House in the race which looks to be the one to beat. Next year as a novice hurdler will be where our horse will shine.
