Odds and preview for qualifying action

The Euro 2020 qualifiers are in full swing now, with plenty more football on the way today.

Spain and Italy are among the sides getting started today, with both nations keen to bounce back from World Cup disappointment.

We’ve previewed the pick of today’s action, starting with Ireland’s trip to Gibraltar…

Gibraltar v Ireland (5:00pm Sky Sports Football)

Mick McCarthy’s second term as Ireland boss begins in Gibraltar, with his side huge 1/20 favourites.

Ireland are 7/2 to qualify from Group D, behind Switzerland and Denmark. If they’re going to get an automatic qualification spot, they can’t afford to drop points against the group’s minnows.

The Green Army are 1/2 to win on the +2 handicap, or 19/10 to be winning after 15 minutes.

League One top scorer James Collins is 14/5 favourite to score first or 4/6 to net anytime.

Sweden v Romania (5:00pm Sky Sports red button)

Spain are the clear favourites in Group F, but Sweden will fancy their chances of joining them at next summer’s tournament. A first-ever win over Romania at 3/4 would set them up very nicely.

However, the visitors come into this in impressive form. They’ve only lost one of their last 14 games, including a 1-0 home friendly win over the Swedes last March. The draw is going for 23/10, with Romania/Draw a 21/20 Double Chance shot.

Both sides know a win here would put them in a great position moving forwards. They’re not likely to take too many risks as a result. Our traders have Sweden and Under 2.5 Goals at 11/5.

Marcus Berg is 6/4 to net for the second competitive home international running. Claudiu Keseru is the main threat for Romania as a 10/3 anytime scorer.

Italy v Finland (7:45pm Sky Sports Premier League)

Italy didn’t even make it to last summer’s World Cup. They’ll be determined to make an emphatic start to qualifying for next summer’s tournament.

The Azzurri haven’t conceded in their last four games against Finland. There’s 8/13 about a home win to nil at Stadio Friuli, while Roberto Mancini’s side are 10/11 to be leading at half-time and full-time.

Fabio Quagliarella is set to start up front after bagging 21 league goals for Sampdoria this term. We make him 21/20 to score, with Federico Bernadeschi a 23/10 shot.

Spain v Norway (7:45pm Sky Sports red button)

Luis Enrique has picked an experimental squad, but Spain should still have too much quality for Norway.

La Furia Roja have only lost one competitive game on home soil since 2003 – to England last November – and are 2/11 to get the points in Valencia. They’re also 11/8 on the -2 handicap.

It’s a faster, more direct Spain selection on paper, with Alvaro Morata set to lead the line. The Atletico Madrid forward is 14/5 to open the scoring.

Getafe’s Jaime Mata is 5/6 to mark his international debut with a goal if he gets on.
