Euro 2020 qualification Betting Tips: Netherlands, Poland and Belgium in action

Preview and odds of Thursday’s ties

Attention turns to international football this week as qualification for next year’s European Championships gets underway.

As England are not in action until tomorrow night, we take a look at a resurgent Netherlands, Belgium’s firing squad as well as Poland’s trip to rivals Austria.

It’s all previewed right here, starting with Northern Ireland hosting Estonia.

Northern Ireland v Estonia

With German and Netherlands also in their group, it’s vital that Northern Ireland get off to a winning start.

Michael O’Neill’s men are 4/9 to do so and kick off with three points. But the last time these two met Norn Iron fell both home and away to the Estonians who are 8/1 to win again.

They have a solid record at home, winning against both South Korea and Israel at Windsor Park.

Both teams to score and a Northern Ireland could be worth a second look at 4/1.

Austria v Poland

This is the pair’s first meeting in eleven years dating back to Euro 2008 when they jointly-hosted the competition.

Austria may fancy themselves on home turf and are 13/10 to score victory. David Alaba has been a vital player for his country down the years and he’s 5/1 to bag in a home win.

Poland disappointed in last year’s World Cup, failing to advance past the group stage.

But they do have an embarrassment of riches up front in Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik and break-out star Krzysztof Piatek.

Piatek has taken Serie A by storm, first with Genoa and now AC Milan this season. The 23-year-old is 9/2 to notch in a Poland victory.

Netherlands v Belarus

Netherlands have had a mighty resurrection in little over a year under new boss Ronald Koeman. After failing to qualify for both Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, Oranje are looking strong again.

They open their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign against Belarus in a match they are heavy 1/8 favourites to win.

A defence marshalled by Virgil van Dijk won’t give many goals away, but it’s actually Belarus who didn’t concede in all six Nations League ties last year. So you can get Under 2.5 Goals in the game at 8/5.

But with the likes of Memphis Depay, Steven Bergwijn and a refreshed Ryan Babel in the team, it’s 27/20 for the home side to win with Over 3.5 Goals.

Belgium v Russia

As Belgium are unbeaten in 21 competitive matches on home soil, it’s hard to look past them at a slim 1/3 for the win.

Roberto Martinez’s side are one of the favourites at 7/1 to win the tournament next summer.

Romelu Lukaku’s absence may mean Michy Batshuayi starts up front, with the Crystal Palace-loanee at 16/5 to score first and 21/20 anytime.

Russia did make the quarter-finals of the World Cup and have danger-men Denis Cheryshev, Artem Dzyuba and Aleksandr Golovin available.

The match betting has them at 8/1 to cause an upset, with a draw at 19/5.
