Saturday’s racing odds, tips and preview

The ITV racing cameras are out in force again this weekend, bringing you the action from Kempton, Lingfield and Newcastle.

With the Cheltenham Festival only a couple of weeks away, trainers will be looking to improve their runners’ form ahead of the showpiece event in mid-March. Things are kicking off at Kempton at 1:50pm, with seven live races for you to watch and enjoy.

We look ahead to today’s biggest races, complete with another round of tips…

Fusil Raffles – 2:25 Kempton

The Nicky Henderson-trained four-year old is among the front runners in the form guide, after picking up a first and second place finish in separate newcomers races in France last July.

The gelding still has a lot of improvement to come, but on current levels has to command respect from the rest of the pack.

It’ll be a good test to see the real pedigree of Fusil Raffles with Henderson throwing him in at the deep end, but if his undoubted talent shows, it’ll be another win notched up for the four-year old.

Wissahickon – 3:15 Lingfield

It’s hard to ignore the form of the four-year old coming into the race, as well as the pedigree he has over the course and distance.

The John Gosden-trained horse won twice here over the winter, and both Gosden and jockey Frankie Dettori will be expecting another big victory in the prestigious Winter Derby.

Wissahickon won here at a canter three weeks ago, with Big Country finishing 3/4 length behind.

Glen Rocco – 3:35 Kempton

Glen Rocco is the favourite to take this Grade 3 Handicap Chase, and with good reason. The eight-year old has been progressing quicker than expected and continues to capture the eye.

A mark of 137 looks fair for the gelding, with the Nick Gifford-trained raider coming into this race off the back of a mighty 23l course and distance success last month.

Jockey Leighton Aspell will need to be wary of the challenges posed by the threatening Talkischeap, trained by Alan King. The seven-year old has previously beaten the favourite and has won over course and distance, so could be one to look out for too.

ITV Racing Tips:

1:50 Kempton – Secret Investor

2:05 Lingfield – Gracious John

2:25 Kempton – Fusil Raffles

2:40 Newcastle – Daklondike

3:00 Kempton – Angels Breath

3:15 Lingfield – Wissahickon

3:35 Kempton – Glen Rocco
