Pacquiao v Broner: Who will come out on top?

Odds and preview ahead of welterweight clash

Manny Pacquiao puts his WBA World Welterweight title on the line against Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this weekend.

The Pac Man is looking to dish up a third match without a win for Broner and retain his belt.

This will be Broner’s first chance to win back the strap he grabbed against Paul Malignalli back in 2013.

As the duo prepares to lock horns you can catch the action free in the UK live from 5am Sunday on ITV4 or stream it on the ITV Player.

But who will grab the headlines?

The champ is 2/5 to bag the win in his first defence of his title under Premier Boxing Champions’ management. This will be the 40th bout of Pacquiao’s career, which has seen him fight the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

At 40-years-old it’s Pacquiao’s staying power that’s so impressive. The veteran is still feared in the locker room, only losing one of his last four fights.

Broner is 2/1 to win but if he thinks he can come out swinging then he could in for a long night. Shawn Porter – who defeated Broner in 2015 said to FightHype: “I don’t believe in his punching power. I definitely believe in his speed BUT we gotta look at the track record for the last 3 fights.”

And he added: “If he uses his speed, he makes it an interesting fight…He makes it a good fight.”

Porter’s own win over Broner showed despite his opponents effective counter-punching it was his work-rate and aggression that can get the better of him.

This is a weapon Pacquiao can also use to wear out Broner. The Filipino is 9/4 to knock down his opponent at any point in the bout.

But the American is being backed by former opponent Mikey Garcia to surprise people. If Broner is to win it may have to go the distance at 1/2.

A points win for Broner with no knockdowns in the fight is 5/1.

Pacquaio is being backed by many, but The Problem could make it one to stay awake for.
