Odds and preview for tonight’s Premier League match-up

Anfield is the setting for tonight’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and Leicester City, with the home side looking to capitalise on the slip up from Manchester City last night.

The Reds have been a dominant force in the league this season, losing only once and dropping just nine points from 23 games. They’ll be looking to win and extend their lead at the top to seven points.

Leicester have had an indifferent season so far, losing more than they’ve won but they’re still in the hunt to finish as best of the rest. They sit only four points behind Wolves in seventh, and a shock victory over Liverpool would give them a confidence boost going forward.

The game is live on BT Sport 1 from 8pm tonight. Here are all the odds and key info you need to know before kick-off…

Head-to-head

Liverpool have a decent record against Leicester in recent seasons, winning their last three matches against the Foxes in close encounters.

Each of the last three have been won by Liverpool by a single-goal margin.

The first battle between the two this season saw Liverpool come away from the King Power Stadium with a 2-1 win.

The Reds had been dominating the game before an Alisson howler allowed Rachid Ghezzal to capitalise and drag the Foxes back into the game.

Likely XIs

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the Dutch duo of Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum returned to training during the week and could play a part in the match.

Fabinho and Dejan Lovren are back in contention for selection, and both are likely to start the game, with James Milner, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold still on the sidelines.

Klopp is likely to stick with the tried and tested formula of the star trio up front. Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will all be looking to capitalise on the points dropped by City last night to take them one step closer to the league title.

Leicester City will be relieved to have centre-back Harry Maguire back after recovering from a leg injury.

Daniel Amartey remained the only long-term absentee from the Foxes squad after suffering an ankle injury against West Ham in October.

Harvey Barnes has impressed since being recalled from his loan spell at West Brom, and could start the game tonight.

Liverpool vs Leicester - Football tactics and formations

Key Battles

Liverpool may have to play a make-shift defence depending on the fitness of Virgil van Dijk, which is a prospect that Foxes striker Jamie Vardy will be relishing.

Vardy has an incredible goalscoring record against the top six, with his goalscoring stats against Liverpool equally as impressive. He’s netted seven times in eight appearances against the Reds, so their main task will be stopping service to Vardy.

Leicester will be boosted by the return of Maguire to their back-line, and he’ll need to be on form to help shut down the league’s most threatening front-three.

Salah, Mane and Firmino have been clinical, netting 34 between them in the league already. The Foxes defence will have to be on top of their game to stop any of them from scoring.

Liverpool will also need to keep a watchful eye on Barnes. The youngster was on fire in his spell at West Brom, and will be looking to make a lasting impression against one of the big boys should he get game time.

Match Odds

The league leaders are unsurprisingly heavy favourites to win this game and stretch their lead at the top. They’re 2/9 to pick up all three points.

Leicester aren’t fancied to get a result at 11/1, but a Leicester/Draw Double Chance could offer more hope at 29/10.

The Reds have beaten the Foxes 2-1 in the last two games they’ve played, and a 2-1 home win sits at 8/1 with our traders for tonight’s clash.

Salah is the league’s leading scorer for a reason. He’s ice-cool in front of goal, and if you’re backing him to break the deadlock, he’s 5/2. Our traders have priced him at 4/6 to score anytime.

Vardy will be looking to notch another goal against Liverpool, a team he just loves scoring against. He’s 5/2 to score anytime.
