Wednesday’s Champions League Tips: Ajax and Man United to win?

| 12.12.2018

Odds and preview of tonight’s CL clashes

It’s crunch time in the Champions League, with movement still possible in all of groups D-H as we head into the final matchday.

Manchester City will be looking to confirm top spot in Group F, and we’ve got an in-depth look at their clash with Hoffenheim for you.

For now, check out our round-up of the top tips for tonight’s other big clashes…

Ajax v Bayern Munich

Erik ten Hag’s side may be the outsiders in the betting, but they’re eyeing up a potential 10th home win on the spin in this clash.

It’s 5/2 for an Ajax victory, and it would be far from Bayern’s first bad away result of the campaign. Der FCB have suffered defeat in two of the last seven on their travels.

Goals certainly look likely. Four of Bayern’s last five games have seen both teams net, and Both Teams to Score is 8/15 in this clash. We also saw that in the pair’s last meeting – a 1-1 draw in Bavaria.

The hosts have Dusan Tadic in top form. The former Southampton ace is on 14 goals for the season, and netted in the last two CL games. He’s 12/5 to net Anytime.

Shakhtar Donetsk v Olympique Lyonnais

Lyon are draw specialists, with seven of their last 13 matches ending level. And all of those have seen goals.

Another point would secure qualification, though a Shakhtar win would see them qualify at Lyon’s expense.

It’s 6/5 for a home win, with 13/5 for the Draw and victory for the Ligue 1 side at 19/10.

Bruno Genesio’s side have already seen six of their games end 2-2 this term, and a repeat of that is 10/1. Meanwhile, the on-song Memphis Depay is 9/5 to hit the net again.

Valencia v Manchester United

Los Che are having a season to forget. Currently 15th in La Liga, they’re already unable to qualify for the CL knockouts – but are guaranteed of a Europa League berth.

While things are far from perfect at Old Trafford, United are in the better form of the pair, and still have an outside chance of topping Group H. Jose Mourinho’s side have lost just once in nine, and are 9/5 for victory.

Goals have been Valencia’s problem. They’re La Liga’s lowest scorers, with just 12 in 15 games. With United finding a bit of momentum up front, they’re 11/1 for a 2-0 win in Spain.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is 2/1 to register for the third game in four.

Young Boys v Juventus

Victory for Juve would snuff out United’s hopes of winning the group. With a Turin derby on Saturday, Max Allegri might rest a few players here – but the Old Lady should still be too good for Young Boys.

The Swiss side have managed two goals and a single point in five group games, and face a Juventus side eyeing up a sixth win on the trot.

The visitors are 1/3 for maximum points, while it’s 21/20 they Win to Nil.

Croatian powerhouse Mario Mandzukic has scored in four of the last five games, breaking the deadlock in three of those. He’s 13/10 Anytime, and 7/2 to be First Goalscorer.
