Preview and odds for tonight’s games

If last weekend’s Premier League wasn’t thrilling enough, we’re being treated to a full midweek schedule for the first time this season.

It all gets underway with four games tonight, and another six tomorrow.  Today’s contests largely centre on the bottom half of the table, although Manchester City are hoping to stretch their lead at the top with a trip to Watford.

Here are all the key odds and info for tonight’s quartet…

Bournemouth v Huddersfield

Bournemouth may have lost their last four games, but the Cherries have played Arsenal, Manchester City and United in that spell, and given a strong account on each occasion.

So they should be confident of victory at home to Huddersfield Town. There’s 4/6 about Eddie Howe’s men this evening.

David Wagner’s men have collected valuable points in recent weeks, but are 9/2 outsiders to win this one. They’re also without Steve Mounie after his red card on Saturday.

The Cherries should have enough about them. Callum Wilson has scored seven goals this term – only two fewer than the entire Huddersfield squad – and he’s 7/2 to score first having bagged a hat-trick in this fixture last season.

Brighton v Crystal Palace

Though separated by some 42 miles, Brighton and Crystal Palace is quite the rivalry, thanks to a Third Division fixture more than 40 years ago.

Both sides won at the weekend, but Chris Hughton’s Seagulls have only lost once at home this season, while Palace have failed to win five of their last six on the road.

But the Eagles, after excellent performances versus Burnley and Man United, are favourites here at 33/20.

There’s 19/10 about a Brighton win, with 21/10 for a repeat of last season’s draw at the Amex.

Andros Townsend is a man in form after his superb effort against Burnley on Saturday. The winger is 3/1 to net anytime. Glenn Murray should return for the hosts after being rested against Huddersfield, and the 35-year-old is 4/1 favourite to score first.

West Ham v Cardiff City

West Ham and Cardiff also both won at the weekend, picking up excellent victories against Newcastle and Wolves, respectively.

But Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds have been poor on their travels this season. The Welsh side have picked up just one point from six games, scoring twice in the process.

That will go some way to explaining why the Hammers are 4/6 for three points at the London Stadium. There’s 9/2 about a Cardiff win, and 3/1 for a draw.

Javier Hernandez will be one to watch after a brace versus Newcastle. The former Manchester United striker is 4/1 to score first and 5/4 anytime.

Watford v Man City

Watford have stopped Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea from winning at Vicarage Road in the last 18 months. But when Man City visit, the Hornets haven’t fared so well.

The Citizens’ last two games in Hertfordshire have been 5-0 and 6-0 wins. They’ve won the last eight meetings with Watford overall.

So they’re odds-on at 3/10 to make it nine from nine tonight. Watford, winless in four, are 10/1 for a home win, with a draw at 9/2.

Pep Guardiola could be without Sergio Aguero for up to a month with a muscle problem. Gabriel Jesus is likely to start up front once again, and is 10/3 to open the scoring.
